Construction for intersection improvements to begin Monday on Coast Highway

Coast Highway in Laguna Beach is going to get a little busier Monday when construction begins on and near the road between Broadway and Legion streets.
The city of Laguna Beach said the construction is expected to be completed by the end of May.
The streets will remain open but drivers should expect parking and traffic complications during lane closures between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Fridays, excluding holidays.
Projects highlighted in a news release include conversion of Ocean Avenue to a one-way street between Beach Street and Coast Highway; installing pedestrian all-way crossings at Forest and Laguna avenues; lengthening left-turn lanes at Broadway, Forest and Legion; relocating a crosswalk from the south to the north side of Ocean; and expanding and improving curb access ramps.
The city said the construction is part of an ongoing effort to improve traffic circulation and enhance pedestrian safety in the downtown area.
