JWA reopens section of its parking structure

John Wayne Airport opened up levels three and four of the

southwest parking garage on Friday.

Levels one and two remained closed to the public, as part of

ongoing construction to seismically retrofit the structure. They are

scheduled to reopen in April.

All four levels were closed in November.

The work on the southwest garage is the second phase of the

seismic retrofit. The airport also completed work on Monday on the

northwest parking structure, which was the first phase.

During the parking pinch, The airport is offering additional

parking in the east side garages at the valet station or at the Main

Street parking lot.

On Feb. 26, 2002, the county Board of Supervisors awarded a

$2.99-million contract to Fibrwrap Construction Inc.
