‘Laramie Project’ comes to Laguna The Laguna...

‘Laramie Project’ comes to Laguna

The Laguna Beach Playhouse will present “The Laramie Project” from

Sept. 13 to Oct. 12.

The production was created by Moises Kaufman and the Tectonic

Theatre Project. The drama explores the people of Laramie, Wyo., and

the reactions and circumstances that led to the beating death in 1998

of a gay student, Matthew Shepard.

The show will be directed by Nick DeGruccio, whose production of

this play last year at Burbank’s Colony Theatre won 2002 Ovation

Awards for Best Play, Best Direction and Best Ensemble in Los

Angeles. Last November, DeGruccio directed the West Coast Premiere of

the Spitfire Grill at the Laguna Playhouse.

Previews are at 8 p.m. Sept. 9 through 11; 2 p.m. Sept. 11 and

cost $29; the 8 p.m. Sept. 12 preview is $33.

The opening night gala is 7:30 p.m. Sept. 13 for $95. Regular

performances are 8 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for $45; 2

p.m. Saturdays and Sundays for $45; 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays for

$52; and 7 p.m. Sundays for $45. There will be no Sunday evening

performance on Oct. 12. The theater is at 606 Laguna Canyon Road.

Sept. 29.

The work of members of the Southern California Artist Assn., “Fact

or Fiction,” is designed to visually engage the viewer to the

question media bombardment, politics, religion, education and the

truth of what they see feel and hear in the course of their daily

experiences.
