INFORMATION GURU

Orange Coast College has named former Daily Pilot sportswriter Tony Altobelli as its new sports information director.

Altobelli will be responsible for the marketing and promotion of the Pirates’ athletic program.

A Newport Beach native, Altobelli attended Newport Harbor High and Orange Coast College. Most recently, he was a sportswriter at the Killeen Daily Herald in Killeen, Texas.

OUTSTANDING EFFORT

Former UC Irvine All-American Ryan Bailey was named the Outstanding Offensive Player at the recent USA Water Polo Premier League Division I tournament.

Bailey scored three goals for Shore Aquatics in the championship, an 11-10 overtime loss to Los Angeles Water Polo Club.

BRAINS AND BRAWN

Orange Coast College announced that 70 student-athletes have made the school’s Athletic Honor Roll for the fall semester. To qualify, students must maintain a 3.0 grade-point average during the season of their sport and carry 12 units.
