CITY FOCUS:Nativity that lasted 3 days
First Christian Church of Huntington Beach held its 38th annual drive-through Nativity play for three days this year, from Dec. 6 through Dec. 8.
The drive-through format was developed to make the play more accessible to everyone.
Youths in the church’s congregation portrayed the story of Jesus Christ’s birth in a 12-minute show.
Audience members watched the show from their cars, lining up in advance to get the best spot in the church’s parking lot at 1207 Main St.
Residents in about 3,000 cars drove by to watch the play performed by 300 actors in 10 scenes.
The drive-through Nativity is a youth project that began in 1969.
