GLENDALE — Freshman Joseph Nwabuzor, starting in place of injured teammate Steven Cornett, scored a team-high 12 points to help lead the Pirates to a come-from-behind win in consolation action of the Glendale Tournament.
Freshman Diego Delgado added 10 points for OCC, which overcame a 40-26 halftime deficit. OCC had defeated Cerritos, 87-62 on Nov. 29, but was out of sync in the first half, OCC sophomore Miguel Gonzalez said.
“In the first half we didn’t have a good game; we were playing as individuals,” said Gonzalez, who scored nine points. “But then we came together as a team.”
Cornett, a 6-foot-8, 220-pound sophomore, is bothered by a shoulder injury, but might play today when the Pirates (6-7) resume consolation play at 3 p.m.
Freshman Brian Molina, a Costa Mesa High product, contributed eight points, as did freshman Shaun Campbell.
