Spring football camp opens April 7

A Spring Football Skills Camp will run April 7-9 at Guyer Field at Laguna Beach High.

The camp will take place between 9 a.m. and noon on those three days and is open to youth grades third through eighth.

Participants in the no-contact football skills camp will learn blocking and tackling forms as well as defensive and special teams position skills. Fundaments will be taught and executed during scrimmages.

Each participant will receive a Laguna Beach football T-shirt but is required to bring athletic shorts, mouth guard and cleats, plus snack and sufficient water, each day of camp.

The cost is $105 per camper and $53 per additional family member. Interested youth can sign up through Laguna Beach Community Services.

Laguna teams No. 3 in latest CIF poll

The Laguna Beach boys’ volleyball and boys’ tennis teams each held down a No. 3-ranking in their respective CIF-Southern Section polls.

The current polls were released Tuesday by the Southern Section office in Los Alamitos.

Laguna’s big win on March 12 over then-top-ranked Corona del Mar knocked the Sea Kings from the top spot and into the No. 4 slot.
