Fire department receives donation for tow vehicle

Brakke-Schafnitz Insurance Brokers and the Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co. announced this week that they will give the Newport Beach Fire Department an $8,100 grant to buy a new heavy-duty vehicle to tow its Community Emergency Response Team’s training trailer.
The vehicle will be used to take the trailer to local schools, businesses and homeowners associations to education residents on emergency response.
“This new vehicle is a critical addition to the Fire Department’s community education’s efforts, and will allow us to train and educate a greater number of residents,” Newport Beach Fire Chief Steve Lewis said in a written statement.
“We operate on a tight budget, and funding for this type of vehicle would be difficult without this generous donation.”
