Gays no longer welcome in Laguna
Every summer I invite many people to come spend time at time in my house in Laguna.
This year, as I started to make calls and talk to friend, I found a very disturbing trend, a new perception of Laguna.
The 3 gay couples with children I invited, declined. Because their last experience in Laguna was very unpleasant. While walking on the beach by the Surf and Sand (and other places in town), they we’re hurled hateful comments “Faggot” , “Homo” while walking their 2 small children and their partner.
They have never experienced “hate’ like that, Los Angeles or the Hamptons, and we’re quite shocked at the how Laguna has changed.
Laguna had always been a special place in Orange County that been welcoming of Gay people, but it seems that the welcome mat has been pulled away.
No one in the city seems to care about protecting Laguna’s image to the Gay community, and as more of my friends move to Palm Springs, I now no longer want a home, where my own friends can’t feel welcome.
