College Roundup: Golden West men’s basketball loses to Fullerton

Christian Anderson had a team-high 13 points and eight rebounds for the Golden West College men’s basketball team off the bench, but the Rustlers fell to Fullerton 86-61 in Wednesday’s home game in Orange Empire Conference action.

Fullerton improved to 15-0 overall and 4-0 in the conference.

Justin Kirksey added 12 points for Golden West (2-14, 0-4 in conference). Ricky Briseno and Eric Watson each scored 10 points.

Saddleback 93, Orange Coast 52: Andres Ortega scored a team-high 18 points for the host Pirates on Wednesday in an Orange Empire Conference game.

Aundrel Pua added 13 points and nine rebounds for Orange Coast (3-12, 0-3 in conference).

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Fullerton 75, Orange Coast 36: Lea Adame had 12 points, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots for the visiting Pirates on Wednesday in an Orange Empire Conference opener.

Cristal Hernandez added eight points, 12 rebounds and four steals for Orange Coast (2-12). Anna Hollister also scored 10 points.

Irvine Valley 97, Golden West 54: Abigail Guerrero led the visiting Rustlers with 25 points to go with six rebounds and three steals in Wednesday’s Orange Empire Conference opener.

Golden West dropped to 3-10 overall.
